Little Leaders
Who Are the Little Leaders?

The Little Leaders are our youngest ambassadors at East Park Academy, chosen from Reception classes to represent and promote the East Park 8 values. These budding leaders are selected for their enthusiasm, kindness and potential to inspire others through their actions and ideas. Through the Little Leaders program, Reception pupils are given an early opportunity to develop confidence, responsibility and leadership skills while contributing to our school community.
How Are Little Leaders Chosen?

Little Leaders are chosen by their teachers based on their consistent demonstration of the East Park 8 values: Kindness, Voice, Leadership and Responsibility, Creativity, Self-Belief, Independence, Collaboration and Determination. Teachers look for children who show a willingness to help others, express their ideas confidently and work well with their peers. The selection process ensures that every Little Leader is ready to take on the role with excitement and pride.

The Role of the Little Leaders

Although they are just beginning their journey at East Park Academy, Little Leaders play an important role in shaping the school’s positive culture. Their responsibilities include:

-
Voice: Sharing their ideas and thoughts during class discussions and school activities.
-
Leadership and Responsibility: Taking responsibility for small tasks and encouraging others to do the same.
-
Creativity: Bringing imaginative ideas to their projects and play.
-

2. Representing Reception Pupils
Little Leaders serve as representatives for their Reception peers, sharing ideas and feedback with their teachers to ensure everyone’s voice is heard.

3. Participating in School Activities
Little Leaders are actively involved in special events, assemblies and projects, where they model the East Park 8 values to the wider school community.

4. Building Confidence and Skills
The program helps Little Leaders develop essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, laying the foundation for future leadership roles as they progress through the school.

Why Do We Have Little Leaders?

The Little Leaders program exists to instil the East Park 8 values from the very beginning of a child’s educational journey. By empowering our youngest pupils to lead and contribute, we nurture their confidence, independence and sense of belonging. The program also helps to create a positive and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and inspired to grow.

What Do Little Leaders Do?

The Little Leaders program offers a variety of opportunities for Reception pupils to shine:

-
Supporting Class Activities - Little Leaders help organize and lead small group activities, encouraging their peers to participate and collaborate.
-
Participating in Assemblies - They take part in school assemblies, sharing their ideas and showcasing their achievements.
-
Modelling Positive Behaviour - Through their actions, Little Leaders set an example of kindness, respect and determination for their classmates.
-
Contributing to School Projects - Little Leaders play a role in age-appropriate projects, such as planting in the school garden or creating displays that highlight the East Park 8 values.

The Little Leaders program is an integral part of East Park Academy’s mission to cultivate confident, compassionate, and capable individuals. By starting early, we ensure that even our youngest pupils understand the importance of living by the East Park 8 values and contributing to their community with pride.
